Second Session of the "Climate Action Modeling Capacity Building Program"

From August 30 to 31, iGDP hosted the second session of its “Climate Action Modeling Capacity Building Program” in Urumqi, Xinjiang. This training series aims to foster communication and collaboration among professionals in green and low-carbon development, enhance local policy researchers’ ability to apply quantitative modeling tools, and support evidence-based decision-making for climate-related policies at the local level. The training session brought together 49 researchers from 19 institutions across 14 provinces and regions, including Xinjiang, Gansu, Henan, Shandong, Shanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Hainan, and Tianjin. These participants gathered in Urumqi to explore the practical applications of climate action modeling. The session was organized by iGDP, with co-hosting support from the School of Economics and Management at Xinjiang University and the Xinjiang Innovation Management Research Center. The training combined expert presentations, hands-on tool sessions, and group discussions. Senior experts in climate action modeling shared insights into current trends and emerging developments in the field, helping participants broaden their perspectives. The tool training included modular lectures and practical exercises, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of model structures and acquire essential skills.
